We want to see a fair and just society, where everyone is treated equally and enjoys the same rights. Protecting the rights of our citizens, minorities and all of Europe's diverse communities is one of our priorities.

Unfortunately, there are countless examples of social injustice in Europe. Even though human dignity, equality, and solidarity are values that are enshrined in the Charter of Fundamental Rights, Roma are being deported and segregated all over Europe. Even though the principle of Equal Pay is formalized in the Treaty of Rome, European women still earn much less than men. In some parts of the EU, LGBT people alive in constant fear of harassment.

Women represent half of the European population, and we want to make sure they have the same opportunities as men. We strongly support binding quota targets that compel European companies to include more women on their boards. Increasing female representation in top decision-making positions is essential to help attract female employees to all levels in a business. We are also working to overcome the wage inequalities in Europe.

We fight for an open and just society that accepts all forms of love. Everyone in Europe should feel free to be themselves regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity. The EU – especially in its role as a funder of civil society projects – has a crucial role to play in making sure that equality is non-negotiable, and that LGBT communities have the same rights as everyone else.

An open and inclusive society respects its minorities. We are pushing the European Commission to defend the rights of minorities across Europe, such as those of the Roma, more forcefully. Some states still breach European law by systematically excluding minorities in segregated schools, barring them from entering the labour market, and forcefully deporting them to remote areas. The Commission needs to actively pursue such cases, and prioritize minorities in their funding strategies. Europe must also be a safe-haven for people fleeing conflict and persecution. We want to see the Dublin convention reformed, and make sure that Europe has fair and just boarder policies that protect, rather than persecute refugees and asylum seekers.

We believe that the European Union should respect the values upon which it was founded. Greens like Ulrike Lunacek, Judith Sargentini, and Jan Philipp Albrecht are working in the European Parliament to make sure that words are followed by action.
